Each day is a new day to start again which is much better than giving up completely, laying out on the couch, with a bag of chips, and watching T.V. all day.
Started with a bowl of Quaker old fashioned oatmeal with dates, walnuts, and sunflower seeds. The oats are my whole grain, the dates add some sweetness, and probably a little nutrition, as well, and the walnuts and sunflower seeds are suppose to be my fat for the day, plus omega 3. I also had a banana. These are going to be my day starters with a little variation. I don't know yet if I am going for the occasional egg. Eggs make me want to have toast and fried potatoes!
Association foods are a real pain. It is a domino effect of bad eating: first a little of this, then a little more of that, and before I know it, I am eating everything in the kitchen!
Taking it slow.....

I'm Back!!
Ok, so after months of going in a completely different direction with my life, I am back to trying this dieting thing; or should I say lifestyle change? Because afterall, you can't lose weight until you change your mind. Right? Well, I hope so!
I weigh about the same, so I haven't really gained weight in my absence, so that is a good starting point for me. I have been doing a lot of reading and research, and am now finding that the body needs nutrition rather than starvation. I bought 2 books by Dr. Furhman: Eat to Live" and something about immunity. He has rather radical ideas to a fat lover like me. I am trying to still wrap my head around eating a pound of raw and a pound cooked vegetables a day, along with a handful of nuts and seeds, 4 fruits, and a cup of beans. Grains are only allowed once a day. No Fat At All!!!!
I tried this for a couple of days and became rather ill. He says that this sickness is just your body detoxing from fatty foods like meat and dairy. He says to do this for 6 weeks, and then you can add back 10 to 20% of other foods like meat, dairy, fats and some refined carbs.
I have decided on not trying the 6 week program, because, well, it is just too scarey of a concept for a fat lady like me!
I still have some investigating to do, and I will keep you apprised as to what I have been up too.
Until we meat, get it? meet again. LOL!!

tired...
Hubby took me on a 1 hour 13 minute walk today; a little longer than what I am used to, but we did stop at a coffee shop and had some breakfast with a nice latte.
I fell off the wagon a little last night. Hubster sent me for milk and eggs which I did come home with, along with deep fried shrimp. They were pretty tasty; although, bloat city was the after-effect of this indulgence.
Oh well, thus is life...

oh my...
Eating healthy can taste good!
Last night's dinner was very good: the Turkish pie was delicious; the salad with the grapes and feta was a big hit; and, don't forget those wonderful, soft rolls with the wheat germ in them. My daughter brought red velvet cake balls covered in chocolate which went very well with our coffee. Good Times!!
I feel a lot better too; not so weighed down in comparison to eating the fast food or highly processed food, but this doesn't mean I won't ever make those sweet rolls again, because "I WILL MAKE THOSE SWEET POTATO CINNAMON ROLLS WITH MAPLE CREAM CHEESE FROSTING, AGAIN"(ominous music sound: dum, dum, dummmm)
Anyway, just got back from a 50 min. walk and feel pretty good today.

laying low...
The fat lady is laying low this weekend with nothing extravagant in mind. I have been moderately behaving myself by making a nice veggie soup with bulgar and a stir-fry with all the colors of the rainbow; hence, Rainbow Stir-fry--found in Veg Times.
This evening I am having guests and found an interesting menu for the festivities: Turkish pie which is made of eggplant and tomatoes with lots of spices like cumin, anise seed, and red pepper flakes. The crust is layers of phyllo dough. There is going to be a unique salad with fancy mixed greens, grapes, feta, and hazel nuts with a nice light white wine vinaigrette. I am also making rolls with wheat germ. We are having gwertz German wine with it--suppose to be good with spicy food.
I also made some awesome molasses cookies, but we are trying to behave and eat the sparingly.
So, I feel a little better, and will keep trying to work on my previous and continuing bad behavior.
I know, no fun, but you know me, I can't stay good for very long! Hee! Hee!

10 pounds...
I gained back the 10 pounds I had previously and diligently worked so hard on losing. It took me about 3 months and a couple trips a week of fast food to help me put it back on.
I can always feel the effects when I am teetering around the 200 mark; My clothes don't fit, my face gets flush more often(which is scary), and I feel sooo slow--like I am moving or can only move like a snail.
woe is me, the sad fat lady not feeling like celebrating her fatness anymore.
So, with that said, I am going for a walk...

continuing...
I have been mostly good today and I would say that that is progress.
Had toasted Ezieliel bread with low fat swiss cheese and berries for breakfast, and then took a 50 min. walk. Snack was green tea and chobani yogurt with mango( I just love the mango version); for lunch was a beautiful salad with strawberries, blueberries, golden raisons, dried apricots, walnuts and cucumbers, and baked chicken breast split between two people--hubs and I. I did put the poppy dressing on, because it was there. Did have another one of those cinnamon rolls though.
The afternoon wains on and I think of brandy old-fashioned, which I have, with a low fat cheese stick and a few nuts. For dinner leftover vegetarian soup.
Not so bad, except I am teetering between taking another walk or having another cinnamon roll. Hmmmmm. tough decision.
